Transformers

My sons are recently into Transformers. Little toys that start out as one object (let’s say a car) and transform into a sweet robot. On my Netflix account I ordered a Transformers movie and forgot about it. When it came in the mail I thought it was a kids animation, so it sat on the desk for awhile until I remembered it this morning. To my surprise it was the PG-13 action movie! Ha ha ha ha ha, ho ho, he he, ha. Dang, wish I would’ve opened it last night…we watched CSI because we thought we only had a cartoon. He he he. If you haven’t seen it, get it. It’s a great movie. And my 4 year old clued me in to all the names of the transformers… I was too busy looking at how lovely (um, ok, she’s HOT) the main girl character is and wishing I had her body. Then my sleepy husband comes in and clues me in to the fact that this lovely lady is the new Angelina Jolie and “where have you been dear?” I nod and say, ‘ya, darn she’s hot. Way better than Angie!’ What an interesting Saturday morning! he he he he he

You had me at Hello!

(me, Mom, & Auntie Sharon for Mom's birthday via camera phone)

IMAX 3D. WOW. You had me at the trailers! Then the actual movie...so great. I'm not a big science fiction fan, but this movie is awesome. There are minor flaws (new age world view, slight leftist propaganda, & Hinduism) but they are minor and do not distract from the wonderful plot, character development, imagination, and special effects. I recommend this movie for all adults. A MUST SEE IN THE THEATER. It's totally worth the $16.
Go. Go now. Buy your ticket.

Inspiration and Motivation

Got this movie from Netflix the other day. Kinda low budget and a tad cheesy. But very high on the inspiration and motivation factor. I teared up so many times it was cracking me up. If you're in need of some good ol' fashion motivation to be better and press on when the going gets tough, get this movie.

Netflix Return

I returned to Netflix and this was my first movie. I was skeptical at first but it turned out really good!

TT: The Duggar Family

I love this family and all I learn from watching them and reading their website. Michelle even has a blog. What I'm thankful for today: some tasty nuggets I found on their website!

1. Duggar Family Top 5 Parenting Tips:
  1. Teach our children to love God with all of their heart, soul, mind and strength, and memorize God’s word together as a family.
  2. Teach them to have a servant’s heart, leading by your example. Love your neighbor as yourself.
  3. Daily read the Proverb of the Day that corresponds with the day of the month and discuss it as a family.
  4. Diligently keep up with each child’s attitudes and actions and ask what is going on in their heart. Pray with them one on one letting them lead in prayer and then you closing the prayer time together.
  5. Ask God to help you conquer anger because it can destroy your relationship with your children. Praise them ten times more than you correct them.
2. Family motto - JOY: Put Jesus first, Others second, Yourself last.

3. They are advocates of the Bradley Method of Natural Childbirth and have had only 3 c-sections (due to breach/transverse positions).

What I desire: to be gentle and meek like Michelle, controlling anger and not yelling at my kids. Jesus, give me a miracle!

Clean TV

Need something clean to watch on TV? Want to get inspired? Have I got the show for you! I discovered this wonderful show on TV - that the entire family can watch. There are not many of those these days - I don't even watch the news anymore because of the horrible R to X rated content. Now I'm hooked on clean TV. CLEAN HOUSE that is! I found this little gem on the Style channel.

Each week, one cluttered clan puts itself at the mercy of host Niecy Nash and her crew of interior designers and organizers. They decide what stays and, more importantly, what goes--by way of a giant yard sale. Then they turn around and pour the proceeds into a much-needed home makeover.

Juicing

Isn't this a beautiful machine? I can't wait to get a Jack Lalanne Power Juicer! I have a 15 year old cheapy, probably from Target (love that place!)...I was happy with it when I didn't have kids, but now I need to upgrade. It is NOISY and takes forever to chop the food into small enough pieces...who has time for that with 3 kids under 4? Not me ;) Therefore, I am rationalizing a $150 purchase for the benefit of my family. With the old one I only made juice for me, but now it'll be so fast and easy I can make it for the entire family.

Why juice, you ask? Oh my - so many reasons. Here are a few:

1-My husband does not like to eat fruit and vegetables (crazy, I know!) so maybe I can get him to drink them! Plus he likes cool gadgets.
2- A must must must for fasting. Read more about that at JuiceFasting.org and check out the book below.
3- It's good for you! Read more HERE and HERE.
4- It tastes GREAT and has no artificial ingredients (such as toxic HFCS)
5- You can use the pulp in baked goods - yum!

Happy at the finale

I watch very little TV. I LOVE SYTYCD! I tape it on my DVR and watch each episode more than once : ). I am so envious of the hip hop dances and would give anything to be a dancer on that show. Well, not anything! You get my drift though. My boys love it too. Today my 2 year old made me rewind and play one dance over and over and over again while he and his 4 year old brother danced wildly around the living room. Too cute! I was busy nursing so I didn't get a chance to video them. I was bummed when Ade got kicked off - I wanted him to win - but was happy at the finale when Jeanine won! Yeah! Here are a few of my favorite dances she did this season...

Good "romantic comedy"

I was given this DVD last Christmas and I just now got around to watching it. It was really funny and I'm glad I own it. I love romantic comedies!

Thankful Thursday: health & my sister

Not sure if there is such a thing as "thankful Thursday" in the blogging world, but I am going to start them. I frequently post about gratitude and encourage you all to do the same.

Last night I saw a movie with my sister, her kids, and my Dad. My sister is a sucker for emotional movies so I should've known she choose a "tear jerker." WOW was it ever. The entire movie theater was crying...the entire flick! I usually choose romantic comedy so I had to make light of the situation somehow. My little 5 1/2 week old Gavin was with us and was making his usual baby noises. "Suck suck, toot toot, purr purr." It was hysterical in a silent and intense movie theather. Plus the only thing we had to wipe my sister's tears (aka: waterfall running down her chest) and my dads snot was my burp cloth. Now that really made me laugh out loud.

The point is this: I am very greatful that my family, so far, has been very healthy. No cancer or major illnesses to speak of. We are so blessed. I am also very greatful to have my sister. She is one of my best friends and my life would not be the same without her (enter crying sister now)... I think my kids would miss her most of all if she left us early - they love her so much.

If you dare, go see the movie - especially if you have a sister =)

It never gets old

I have seen this movie a million times and I still LOVE IT! How can that be? Last time I checked I was 32 and not 3.

I also love all the little action figures they make and am starting to collect them for the kids...
It all started when Owen got this case/race track for his birthday

Ratatouille

Aren't these veggies gorgeous? It was so fun to make Ratatouille.
I'll have to confess it was my first time doing anything with an eggplant.
I didn't think it would all fit...but it did
This is what it looked like after cooking all night. I turned it on low before going to bed and it was done in the morning. The only problem was that I woke up at 2am to the most amazing smell ever! It actually smelled like meat was cooking. I had a hard time going back to sleep after that b/c it made me hungry =)
I grated fresh Parmesan cheese (the best!) and served it with pasta. WOW was it good!

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Layer half the vegetables in a large crock pot in the following order: onion, eggplant, zucchini, garlic, green peppers, tomatoes.
  2. Next sprinkle half the basil, oregano, sugar, parsley, salt and pepper on the veggies.
  3. Dot with half of the tomato paste.
  4. Repeat layering process with remaining vegetables, spices and tomato paste.
  5. Drizzle with olive oil.
  6. Cover and cook on LOW for 7 to 9 hours.
  7. Place in serving bowl and sprinkle with freshly grated Parmesan cheese.
  8. Refrigerate to store.
  9. May freeze up to 6 weeks.

Gifted Hands: The Ben Carson Story

I taped this TNT special movie and watched it today. It was very heart warming and motivating. My father in law gave us some Ben Carson books for Christmas awhile back and I'm really motivated to read them now =)

Nachoooooooo!

Ok, seriously, this is one of the funniest movies of all time. AND it's rated PG. No foul language, no sex. Mild violence due to wrestling.... but oh so funny! I just can't get over it!!!!!
