Christmas Light Extravaganza

One of my most memorable childhood Christmas traditions is riding around in the car looking at lights. Now that I have kids, we also go on the hunt for lights. This year we went to Rancho Bernardo to view lights on a street that goes ALL OUT. My friend Christy lives about a mile from the street, so we packed up and walked over.

First we bundled up our 4 boys (they have 2, we have 2) - basketball anyone?
(Christian & Ethan Jimenez, Owen & Jackson Baker)
Hats, mittens, blankets, scarves... you know, all the things you need for a winter night in San Diego - ha ha. We're so spoiled with our nice weather here.

We didn't get very far before we saw some spectacular lights - this was one of their neighbors.
GO CHARGERS!The sign welcoming us to the amazing street
and finally... the lights

The kids started to get antsy and wanted out of the stroller - but they didn't have shoes on. We ended up holding them... mainly Mike though. And they were HOT, ha ha.
It was sort of an "open house" night - all the houses were serving drinks and goodies. Mainly hot chocolate or coffee and cookies. The boys were diggin' on the sweets.
One house had some yummy egg nog - and even a little something to spike it with - hence the big grin from Christy. Mine remained virgin, of course =)
Christian admires the beautiful display
And the most memorable piece of the night - the lamp from "A Christmas Story!" Classic!

Thanks for inviting us george!
We left a little earlier than the Jimenez family b/c Jackson had a tummy ache and Owen was dog tired. It was great holiday fun though... except in the end when poor Mike had to tote both kids all the way back to the car, ha ha!
