Jackson: (4 years old) Mom, we need lots of babies.
me: mmmm, hm. we have 3 already.
Jackson: we need a baby.
me: we have baby Gavin, and you love him!
Jackson: I know mom, but we need a SISTER baby.
me: oh. ya. (chuckle) maybe next time
Jackson: Ya, if God gives us a baby girl, huh. Maybe then we'll have a sister.
me: (warm fuzzies...and let down)
A FEW DAYS LATER....
we're at a friends house and their 15 month old little girl is wearing a pink polo shirt and has the most adorable curls
everyone: (adoring Madeline)
Jackson: hi bubba (kissing her cheek)
me: her hair is so cute
Mike: (looking at me with a twinkle in his eye) we need a little girl
me: (big eyes - holding my 11 week old) oh no, you sound like Jackson
Mike: ya, sweety. you need to work on that. Daddy needs a girl.
me: uh-oh. a pink shirt and curls and he's all mushy....
everyone: (laughing)
I've had 3 boys in 4 years. Pumpin' them out right? Why oh why is everyone pressuring us for another already... IS THIS A RACE? Go Team Baker!? I have to admit, a girl would be fun...

Awesome! Buy the book "How to Have a Girl" and tell your husband if he wants to have a girl he has to follow the rules...no springing it on you like last time :-) And btw, don't you just love Ready...go. My friends daughter imitates it with her dolly. :-) Another reason to have a girl! Get on it! Haha..I'm kidding. Take your time. Mine is a year and I'm not letting anyone pressure me into having another one yet!
what is the deal with that? i see it, too. let us recover already! i can't imagine 3 boys though....... girls are sweet- and she'll have 3 big brothers to take care of her!!!
oh and i've heard those books work. we'll be using it for baby number 3 (to get a boy that is)
Such a good write. Talent oozing out your finger tips. Thank you for sharing, Beautiful baby maker. Even now at 50+ years I fantasize about having another baby. For a few years 'her' name was Maggie and now it's 'Sophia'...this after having three in the order of, girl, boy, boy! So, for many the desire never leaves. I'm sure Gavin will nurse as long as he needs to be the center of the family and then...
Hahahaha I remember what Langford said when Gavin was born about birth control. So, maybe giving your body a few years rest is a good idea. Love this photo!!!
