Early in the morning I was getting ready for Dental Hygiene school. A few minutes after I woke up I heard my roommate call me. She had a sad and anxious tone in her voice. "Robin, turn on the TV, quick!"
I watched in shock and horror as a plane crashed into the
WTC. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Were we in a war?!
We had to get ready and go to school anyway. Our quizzes were canceled and we somberly went about the day in a dreamlike state. I called all my friends and family that had loved ones in NYC to make sure everyone was all right.
The next couple of weeks were a total blur. Watching the news and trying to study. Feeling horrible for all the lives lost and devastation left behind. But touched at all the wonderful stories of compassion and love being poured out on those in need.
God promises that he will bring beauty amidst ashes and trade our mourning for joy in Isaiah 61.
I am so thankful that God is near to comfort us and lead us in times like these...and everyday. I am thankful for all of His representatives who poured out the Spirit of Christ on people in need during the crisis. What a blessing to the hurting. Thank you firefighters for all your hard work.
