And....he's off!

Jackson has always been very athletic, but who would've thought he could ride a bike with no training wheels at just 3? We didn't... but then uncle Matt gave us Cooper's old bike and we let him try. So he's been able to ride a few peddles on that bike for about 6 months - but was still very timid and would only try a few times and go back to his "safe" Thomas bike - the one with training wheels. I'm pretty sure I was about SIX before I could ride my bike with no trainers and I was proficient at riding a huge horse and doing gymnastics on it while it was running. So it's not like I was a wimpy girl or something.

Before nap time today I bribed him with girl scout cookies (bad mommy!) to show me his new skill - turning on his own.

After nap:
Dad: Hey Jack, you want me to take off the training wheels on your Thomas bike?
Jack: Um....ya. Yes I do.
Owen: Take of training wheels daddy. Take them oooofffffff!
Jack: Ya, I'm a bigger boy. I don't need those on my bike.
Mom: All right! Cool! Show me how good you can ride. What a big boy! (totally going crazy)
Concentration = tongue out
Whoah - he's fast!
A little wobbly at first, but then he gets going pretty good

Working on turning - he never let a few crashes get him down

Motivating factor: he likes to ride in the dirt and it just doesn't work with training wheels.
He was lovin' the skid thing

"The next Lance Armstrong"

"Ha ha, ha ha, na na na boo boo! I can ride with no training wheels!"
Not only is he just 3 1/2, but he does it in flip flops.
What?!
Watch out Lance, Jackson just might take the Tour de France by storm.
