Happy Fathers Day!

My Dad lives in Music City (Nashville, Tennessee) so I can't see him on Father's day... thus, I blog as a present =)

My Dad and me 6 months ago....
....and 30 years ago
My Dad is such a cool dude! He was the only person the kids in high school thought it was COOL to hang out with, while we avoided all other parents like the plague. Well, some of my friends would come to my house and hang with my mom too - but that's a whole other story! I mean seriously, who looks this good rockin' a mullet?

1991 - my freshman year in high school
at my brother's weddingHe let my mom spend outrageous amounts of money on horses
He used to have this obession with wrapping presents. He'd spend hours getting the pictures to match up perfectly so it looked seamless! This was my 8th birthday and the present came complete with Lollipop wrapping!
What I learned to do by his example:
1. Sing a silly song about whatever you're doing
2. Have fun anywhere
3. Just LET IT GO (well, I'm still workin' on that one)
4. Enjoy baseball on TV
5. READ, read, and read some more

My little library - 9 years old?
December 2007- reading books with my boys at bedtime
Things he passed on:
1. Great immune system - we never get sick!
2. Sense of humor
3. Hebrew/Jewish heritage
4. Height - ooops, he gave that to my sister! Darn it!
5. Moles - I've got millions =)
6. Love for MUSIC

My dad couldn't wait to buy Jackson his first drum set... he's been talking about it since the day he was born. He got his wish on Jackson's 2nd birthday! Look how much fun he had...In case you didn't know, my dad is a professional drummer and made his living as a studio musician... and even has a retirement account from his music union.

He LOVES my Boys!
April 2007 - admiring little newborn Owie
August 2007- playing ball with JacksonDecember 2007- gettin' down on Owen's levelDecember 2007- playdoh with Jackson
Fun Stuff we enjoy together:
1. digging huge holes at the beach!
2. Scrabulous
3. SUSHI and eating in general
4. shopping
5. watching movies

August 2007 - digging a hole w/Shane in Carlsbad
What I'm grateful for:
1. He always visited us on weekends when he lived 2 hours away and still visits 2x/year via plane ride

2. He has always supported me - emotionally and monitarily- even when it was very difficult
3.
He can hang out with my mom & have fun after all these years of being separated
4. He took me to the book store every time he visited and let me pick out 4 books - we still buy each other books to this day
5.
He shows me unconditional love - proof that God exists!

I agree with all of the above, and I am proud to announce that I shed a few tears reading and looking at the pics. All of you would not be suprised about that, because I can cry when I laugh really hard :) I dont know where I get that from, maybe God, but I do know that I have passed it on to the other "women" that I live with. I have found over the years that it is wonderful to have parents, to be a parent, and I cant emagine how it will be to be a grandparent. I CAN wait a while though, but I can emagine that it is very fulfilling. I love you Mom and Dad. Dad have a great fathers day! We will see you soon!
