Ponto Beach

Just a few weeks ago it was still not that fun for Owen to go to the beach... he was clingy and mainly stayed at the blanket to chow down. Now that he is an expert walker he is SO HAPPY and has so much fun! Last Sunday we had a fun family day at Ponto beach. It is a GREAT beach for kids. The sand is far reaching to the ocean and the water is shallow for a long stretch too. The only downside - $8 parking in the Carlsbad State Beach parking lot...that is if you can't find a spot on the street. We had such a good time we definitely thought it was worth the $$$!
Owen immediately walked over to this little pool of water to splash around in - it was getting all over his face but he kept on laughing =)

I told Mike that the Dad's beach duty is to dig a hole - my dad made one every time! So this trip he got smart and brought a little metal shovel. The boys loved helping him dig and Owen was once again splashing in his private little pool.Jackson shows me his dirty hands...toddlers don't like dirty hands, even at the beach. He got over it.

The chairs were a favorite this day. Owen was climbing, laughing, and dancing on them. Oh ya, and flirting with our neighboring beach goers (who turned out to be my patients at CDG!) Jackson joined him on the chairs when he was ready for a snack, hence the chipmunk cheeks.

DRIP SAND CASTLES - the best! Mike showed Jackson how to make them and at the end of the day he ran them over with his Tonka.

Owen ran around pushing the Tonka and at the end of the day he even ventured into the water. When the water first touched his feet he let out a scream because it was cold! (Lower Left) He had fun playing in the waves until one knocked him over...and I got that on video - oops! One last sandy snack before we head home...then he got really crabby. He was so done! A very tired little guy. While we were packing up this bucket brought him momentary joy. He discovered if he put it over his head and talked it made great sounds! He was cracking up and so were we.
Where's Owie? PEEK-A-BOO!

Looks like fun! I've never really been a huge fan of sand! (It gets in too many places!)
