Hello 2015! I am only accepting ONE or TWO births per month, as the birth photographer and doula. Doula services are available as an addition to photography and as a stand alone service. I offer a complimentary meeting to anyone interesting in my services. Please email me if you'd like to chat! robin@birthblessingsphotography.com

6 weeks already!

Yes. I know. I haven't blogged about my new sweet baby. I've been busy with all 3 kids, swim lessons, Grandpa Ed visiting, etc. etc. I would've done it right away but I couldn't sit at the computer due to a difficult post-partum period. The time I did spend on the internet was on a laptop in my bed - while laying on my side... so! Now that I've made my blogging come back (LOL) I'm here to tell you about this sweet new little man we have. Today I am posting about the present and then I'll go back to the beginning.

Gavin turned 6 weeks on Sunday (3 days ago) and these are some pics from the bath. I like periodiclly taking bathtub pics of babies because you don't just carry aroud a naked baby and take pictures of them...unless you're doing an official photo shoot. The best way to see how they've grown (love those chubby rolls!) is to compare naked shots =). Soooo, bath tub it is!

Everyone wants to know, "who does he look like?" Jackson or Owen? Mike or Robin? I say that he looks like his Grandpa Ed (whom he was named after) and his uncle Jay Baker. It's hard to say when they are so little and changing so often, so I guess we'll see as he grows. For now, he's just Gavin and we LOVE him.

Facts about Gavin at 6 weeks:

  • he is in size 1 diaper and 0-3 mo clothes (growing out of NB)
  • he is growing way too fast (10-11 lbs?)
  • he is starting to smile and tracts objects w/eyes
  • his BMs have slowed down very significantly (YEAH!)
  • he startles when undressed and waves his arms as if falling
  • he is gassy and doesn't appreciate it at all
  • he has never cried unconsolably and usually fusses very little
  • he is a deep sleeper and transfers from one place to the next w/out waking (aka: arms to swing to car seat to store to car seat to home - all while sleeping!)
  • he burps very loud but no spit up comes out with them
  • he spits up a little when he needs to burp or is trying to have a BM
  • he likes to sleep on his side or his tummy
  • he loves sleeping in my bed and I barely wake for feedings (yeah- more sleep for me!)
  • he has been able to nurse laying down since we came home from the hospital (amazing since my other 2 babies took a few weeks or months to be able to do this)
  • he doesn't need a diaper change in the middle of the night (yeah again!)
  • he is a happy breastfed baby with a good latch
  • he took the first bottle and binky we gave him (Avent) - easy going!
  • he likes to be carried in the Bjorn
  • he will fall asleep w/out being held/nursed (car, bouncy, swing, etc.)
  • he frequently gets gassy/fussy at 4:30 am and I don't get back to sleep after that =(
  • his hair is light (blondish?) and his eyes are still blue
we call him Gavie, Gavie boy, and baby Gavin

he sounds like such an easy baby (i'm jealous!) but i've heard that the third one is- they can't be anything else when you're chasing around 2 others ;)

Wow, at first I thought Gavin looked like Mike, then Jackson, then Owen but really he looks...like himself! He doesn't look like just anybody really. I love these sweet pics. Thanks for the update Robin. And welcome back :D
