Oops, I accidentally backed into a water pipe this morning! I knew (sort of) what to do because not long ago Mike broke the same pipe. Yes, we need to move it. Anyway, WATER was gushing by the gallons so I grabbed my cell phone and ran down the driveway. Mike told me where to find the main water shut-off and then I ran back to the car... the kids were waiting patiently inside. See, I was on my way to drop off Owen and then fill out some paperwork at Pre-School. Jackson is staying home sick today and I'm not going to work until 1pm. I didn't think we'd have to spend our morning fixing a water pipe, but life is like that - surprises around every corner. Roll with the punches or get rolled over! After we dropped Owen off at the babysitter's house and finished business at Grace Lutheran, we went to Lowes and bought supplies - $22.
The broken pipe

water was gushing out of this by the gallons

my little helper, Jackson (still in his PJs)
"MOM! You broke the pipe? Why? You need to fix it!"

really smelly & toxic materials

hacksaw to make an even surface

sawing is so cool! I feel really crafty using a saw =)

even cut and then clean off the shavings

follow the directions

the lid was so hard to get off I had to use a wrench

primer on the pipe

and then primer on the cap

next: gooey and very stinky cement

The finished product... for now.

Yeah me! Well, not for breaking it, but for fixing it all by myself =)

Very detailed, I'm impressed!
I thought you backed over a bong until I saw the photos.
It took me a second to get the joke Jay...well, maybe a minute or two. Been a lllloooonnnnggggg time since I've even heard the word bong not in reference to a toddler hitting his head. Water pipe. Got it. I'm definitely getting old.
