This was our second family trip to Grape Day Park in Escondido for the Independence Day Celebration and fireworks show. In 2006 Jackson was just 11 months old (last year we were in Beaver, UT) and had a great time. It was even more fun this year now that he's almost 3! Some of my favorite childhood memories involve the 4th of July and fireworks, so I'm always so excited to extend that memory to my kids. Unfortunately, Owen is unable to stay up late and would probably be scared of the noise still - so he went to bed and Mike stayed home with him. Jackson and I met Grandma and Grandpa Baker at the park filled with thousands of people. With no phone communication we walked right to each other at the same moment! It was unbelievable. We set up our chairs and sat down just in time for the band to start.
Grandpa never disapoints the kids - gifts and candy for everyone! He showed them the 'proper way' to play with a flag - only the stick can touch the ground.
Grandma B tells a story - she's got millions!
During the music there was a light show on the side of 'Centre for the Arts' building - it was pretty cool. Much more entertaining than the music this year. We kept ourselves awake by taking pictures =)
Beautiful sunset before the fireworks
OOOHHHHH, AAAAHHHHH.... we LOVE fireworks!

Sounds so fun! I'm excited to take David and Ethan and to have them be excited...I think they definitely would have been scared this year! Oh, and I definitely would have partaken of the cotton candy, I love it!
