Hello 2015! I am only accepting ONE or TWO births per month, as the birth photographer and doula. Doula services are available as an addition to photography and as a stand alone service. I offer a complimentary meeting to anyone interesting in my services. Please email me if you'd like to chat! robin@birthblessingsphotography.com

Tonsillolith

What is a tonsillolith you ask? Well, when your toddler has horrible bad breath for over a week and nothing seems wrong, you might find out! It's much more common in adults than children and commonly happens to people with allergies and sinus problems. found these pics online - Jackson's was much bigger looking in his throat...
The recommendation is gargle with hydrogen peroxide and remove the debris with Q-Tips. I had him stick his tongue out while I poked it with a Q-Tip... YUCK is all I can say. In the beginning he thought it was funny... and then started to cry and protest. Same went with the hydrogen peroxide. Maybe some day we'll have to get the tonsils taken out - I don't want to do this for the rest of his life. We're going to the pediatrician on Thursday.

update:
took these pics after his nap

I got 3 balls this size out and there is still more in there... poor kid. I let him smell it (it's horrific!) and he got all sad - "get it out mommy!" But then he didn't really want me to because it makes him gag =(

update#2
I took Jackson to the pediatrician and we discussed the indications for tonsillectomy. He didn't think Jackson was a candidate - yet. He said I probably got all the stones out b/c the tonsils looked normal. BUT... HE HAS AN EAR INFECTION! Poor Jack, he's probably so used to it he doesn't even complain anymore. Although he did wake up crying a lot last night and a little the night before. But toddlers have nightmares too, so who knew? Good thing I made the appointment before the ears started raging and fever hit. Jackson LOVES going to see Dr. Cairo at Kaiser - so it was a good little outing for us (Owen stayed with Mike). He was the center of attention in the pharmacy too =) - would he have it any other way? Ha ha, that's my boy!

Ha, ha, I used to see this all the time when I worked for the otorhinolaryngologist! Everybody wanted surgery for it.
